Punjab Kings batsman Shashank Singh surprised the Sunrisers Hyderabad openers by dismissing them in a single over after a century partnership between the two batsmen in the powerplay.
Sunrisers Hyderabad batsman Abhishek Sharma loves batting at the New PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh as it is his home ground as he plays for Punjab in domestic Indian cricket. The last time he played against this franchise in IPL 2025, he scored 141 runs after being quiet in the IPL.
Shashank Singh troubled Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head in the same over
After creating a ruckus at the PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh, Punjab Kings fast bowlers had no answer to Sunrisers Hyderabad openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. By the end of the powerplay, Sunrisers had done most of their work.
Punjab Kings went for a strategic break and returned with the ball with Shashank Singh. This was a surprising move from Shreyas Iyer and Ricky Ponting. However, he benefited the captain as he controlled the run rate.
In his second over of the spell, he dismissed Travis Head with a slower ball on the very first ball and returned to dismiss Abhishek Sharma on the fourth ball as the batsman threw his arm at a wide delivery outside the off-stump. He not only broke the partnership but also sent both the openers back to the dugout.

Shashank Singh has never bowled except in the PBKS vs SRH match
The PBKS game-changer is not even a part-timer in the IPL, as he has bowled in only 5 matches in his entire career. But whenever he has bowled, it has been in the Punjab Kings vs Sunrisers Hyderabad match.
He first bowled twice for the SRH team against the Punjab Kings, while later he bowled thrice for the Punjab Kings, that too against the same rivals Sunrisers Hyderabad. Hence, he has bowled only in the PBKS vs SRH game.
He has taken three wickets so far, two against Abhishek Sharma and this time also against Travis Head. Shashank took his first wicket of Abhishek Sharma in IPL 2025.
