Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Match 16 was played between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. RR beat RCB by 6 wickets. The match was delayed due to rain; However, no overs were lost as it was a full 20 overs match.
Captain Riyan Parag won the toss and decided to bowl first and made one change by fielding Brijesh Sharma in place of Tushar Deshpande. RCB also made one change as Josh Hazlewood finally returned to the team along with Jacob Duffy. The match got off to a great start for the Royals as Phil Salt dismissed his England teammate for a duck on the first ball of Jofra Archer.

Then Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal scored at a good pace; However, the latter was dismissed for 14 runs off 7 balls by the same bowler who had taken the first wicket, as RCB read 45/2 after three overs. Kohli was soon dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi after scoring 32 runs in 16 balls. After the end of 8 overs they were reduced to 73/4.
RCB were in real trouble thanks to Rajat Patidar and Tim David, but Tim David was out for 13 as the defending champions were 94/6 in 11 overs. Romario Shepherd also returned to the pavilion after scoring 25 runs and the wickets of the defending champions kept falling.
However, Patidar played a captaincy innings and scored his half-century off 35 balls. The RCB captain was out on 63 runs in 40 balls, then the influential player was Venkatesh Iyer who finished the innings for the Challengers with 29 runs in 15 balls and RCB scored 201/8.
While chasing the target, Royals openers Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal made a great start; However, Josh Hazlewood came back after conceding two sixes and took the wicket of Jaiswal on the last ball as the latter was out for 13 runs. But Suryavanshi had other plans as he smashed the RCB bowlers all around the park.
Both the batsmen put up a partnership of 100 runs in no time as their score was 129/1 after the completion of 8 overs. However, Krunal Pandya caught the big fish in 8.1 overs as Suryavanshi returned to the pavilion after scoring 78 runs in 26 balls, putting the Royals in the driver’s seat. Shimron Hetmyer came back after a duck on the next ball.
Royals were reduced from 129/1 to 133/4 in the space of two balls. But Dhruv Jurel was present at the crease and captain Riyan Parag came to bat and faced a hat-trick of balls against Krunal Pandya, but was out in the next over. When Parag was out, Royals needed 65 runs from 60.
Dhruv Jurel completed his half-century in 25 balls and Ravindra Jadeja also played a good innings and the former remained unbeaten on 81 runs. The latter also remained unbeaten on 24 runs in 25 balls. They are ranked 4th out of 4 in IPL 2026.
