The reunion of Indian cricket legend Sourav Ganguly and Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan stole the show during the rain-interrupted IPL 2026 match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Monday, April 6.
It was supposed to be a high-voltage encounter at the Eden Gardens, but the match was abandoned due to rain. The fans who had come in large numbers were disappointed as only 22 balls were possible. However, a “fairytale” moment between Ganguly and Shahrukh brought smiles to the faces of the fans at the Eden Gardens.

As soon as the play was stopped due to rain, Sourav Ganguly, who currently serves as the President of the Bengal Cricket Association, came to the ground, calmly checked things out and interacted with the officials.
Shahrukh Khan, on the other hand, was seen having a long and serious discussion with Venky Mysore in the stands at Eden Gardens. Bollywood megastar came with his daughter Suhana Khan to watch this match of IPL 2026. The cameras kept switching between the two legends.

When the match officials finally announced that the KKR vs PBKS IPL 2026 match has been canceled and both the teams will share the points, fans were left disappointed, but only for a few minutes, as they witnessed one of the big highlights of this season.
Ganguly approached Shahrukh Khan in the stands. The former Kolkata Knight Riders captain and co-owner greeted each other with warm smiles and handshakes like old brothers. Both the icons also posed for the camera and the reunion melted the hearts of everyone who watched.

It is noteworthy that Ganguly has been a part of two different teams in IPL. Most people remember him as the face of Kolkata Knight Riders. Later, he also played for Pune Warriors India.
Throughout his IPL journey, Ganguly played 59 matches and scored 1349 runs at an average of 25 and a strike rate of over 100. During this period, the great Indian batsman also scored seven half-centuries. He was the captain of KKR in two different tenures.
