Under the initiative of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Dev Fadnavis, Mumbai city is planning to build a new cricket stadium with MCA. This development will be a milestone in terms of cricket stadium, which can be built to house a huge audience of around 100,000 people.
Mumbai is the central hub of cricket in India, as many legendary cricketers have made it to the Indian team over the years. Under the Mumbai Cricket Association, legendary players like Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma have made India proud over the years.
Rohit Sharma, Shivam Dubey, Suryakumar Yadav and Yashasvi Jaiswal have also played in the last two T20 World Cups. Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis made this proposal during the felicitation ceremony.
MCA to build a revolutionary stadium in MMR area
Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is planning to build a huge cricket stadium in Amane village in Thane district. As TOI reporter Gaurav Gupta learned, it will be a state-of-the-art facility with a massive capacity of around 100,000 people.
A source said, “MCA wants to build a massive 1 lakh capacity cricket stadium on about 50 acres of open land in Amane, which is 26 km from Thane and 68 km from Wankhede Stadium. MCA has filled the open tender issued by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) to acquire the land. The association is awaiting approval from the Maharashtra government.”
The tender has been filed and in all likelihood the MCA is waiting for the government’s decision on this and the project will be under the supervision of Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis.
There will be a new cricket in Mumbai soon!

Maharashtra Deputy CM proposes a vision from former MCA president Amol Kale
On Friday, before the start of IPL 2026, at a felicitation program for four Maharashtrian players who were part of two World Cup-winning teams, the Deputy CM even requested that CM consider the construction of the Eknath Shinde stadium.
“This stadium was a dream project of MCA president Amol Kale (who passed away in New York on June 10). It will have all modern facilities including two grounds on which first-class matches can be played,” the source said.
Incidentally, the former MCA president who passed away last year was a very close friend of Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis.
MCA felicitates Maharashtra’s T20 World Cup-winning cricketers as well as staff members
The MCA has honored all the associated staff members of the Indian team who were part of the two World Cup wins. The TOI report further confirmed that India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, who was in the World Cup squad, will also get a part of the Rs 11 crore prize money finalized for the World Cup-winning players.
This is a revolutionary step by the MCA to honor the efforts of the staff members, who usually have an equal impact on the success of the teams in national and international tournaments.
While Mhambrey will get a whopping amount of Rs 75 lakh for his services, masseur Arun Kanade will also get Rs 25 lakh for his services. All four players will get a reward of Rs 2.5 crore.
