The debate on ‘IPL commitments vs international duties’ has intensified as Ben Duckett pulled himself out of the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026).
His decision to leave the league came just days before the opening match of the IPL 2026 season. This season, the league is scheduled to start from March 28 and on the evening of March 24, the news of Ben Duckett’s withdrawal from IPL 2026 came.
Why did Ben Duckett decide to leave IPL 2026?
The England opener was to play for Delhi Capitals (DC). But now, with only four days before the opening of the league, DC is in a challenging situation. According to reports, Duckett decided not to play IPL to give priority to his international career.
This sudden action may result in a ban of three years. BCCI can impose a three-year ban on the batsman from participating in the league. Another England international, Harry Brook, now the team’s white-ball captain, was also given a 3-year ban from the board for the same reason.
