Sources revealed that several Pakistani players were allegedly lured into the same setup with promises of partnership and benefits, and the total amount involved could run into lakhs of rupees. Still, most of them have not spoken out publicly, largely because they fear losing even more money.

A big controversy has arisen over the injury issue of Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman.

Meanwhile, a new controversy has arisen with serious questions being raised over the fitness clearance of Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman during the T20 World Cup 2026 selection process. The matter reportedly came to light following a post-tournament medical examination by the PCB’s medical panel.

The controversy had started when chief selector Aaqib Javed, while announcing the ODI squad for the Bangladesh series, indicated that the PCB would investigate how both players were previously cleared for the 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

Soon after, Babar and Fakhar were dropped from the ODI squad for the Bangladesh tour. Matters became worse when both the players were found to be suffering from injury concerns even after the World Cup. Babar later withdrew from the National T20 Championship due to a hamstring problem, while Fakhar was suffering from a similar fitness problem.

“When Babar was examined, his injury turned out to be more serious than initially diagnosed, while Fakhar has been suffering from the same problem for several months,” a PCB source said.
