West Indies spinner Gudakesh Moti had a brilliant performance for West Indies during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The left-arm spinner was the leading wicket-taker for the Windies in the major tournament, taking 10 wickets in the seven matches he played.
Gudakesh Moti is reportedly ready to withdraw from Pakistan Super League (PSL). According to ESPNcricinfo, the spinner from the Caribbean country has decided to withdraw from PSL 11 as soon as he is able to return home from India. The Windies team was stuck in India for more than a week after losing to India in their final Super 8 game of the tournament.

The young spinner has also been picked up by the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Keeping the rules in mind, Moti might not opt out of the IPL, if he pulls out of the IPL without any injury concerns, he will not be able to feature in the next two auctions.
Dunith Dunith Welles replaces the pearl
Lahore Qalandars will sign Dunith Velez as a replacement for the Windies spinner. His performance in the T20 World Cup was good, he took 8 wickets for Sri Lanka and the economy was also less than 8. She is a similar replacement for the Gudakesha pearl; However, Vélez has more firepower in his batting.
There may be more overseas players who may also miss out on the PSL and IPL due to the travel turmoil following the T20 World Cup, which will further impact the availability of West Indies players in the PSL and IPL. Moti was the only member of their World Cup squad to be signed by the PSL.
Lahore Qalandars will defend PSL
PSL is scheduled to start from March 26. The 11th edition of the league has introduced two new franchises in the form of Hyderabad Kingsmen and Rawalpindi Pindies. There are now eight franchises in the league.
Lahore Qalandars are the defending champions, having won three of the last four titles, including a thrilling final at the Gaddafi Stadium last year. They will be hoping to win another title this season. They will play against new franchise Hyderabad Kingsmen on the opening day.
Earlier, Blessing Muzarabani had also pulled out of the PSL as he is reported to be joining IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman for the upcoming season.
