Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir once again predicted trouble for the India national cricket team ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026 final against the New Zealand national cricket team at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, March 8.
Under captain Suryakumar Yadav, India’s run to the final has been a mix of impressive and close wins. The defending champions won all their matches in the group stage, but then suffered a crushing defeat against South Africa in the Super 8 match. Even though some of their matches exposed many of India’s weaknesses, the Men in Blue still made it to the title clash.

Even after the Indian cricket team proved many critics wrong by reaching the final of the T20 World Cup 2026, Aamir is still not convinced. He predicted that New Zealand, who are searching for their first T20 World Cup title, will break the hearts of millions of Indians in the summit clash in Ahmedabad.

Amir pointed out that the Men in Blue have not looked like a complete unit throughout the tournament; Only a few individual match-winners have taken them to the final, while the Black Caps have looked balanced and dangerous in every department.
Aamir called Bumrah and Samson the main pillars of India
“If you look at New Zealand, they gave a complete performance against South Africa in the semi-finals. As a team, they are giving a complete performance. If you look at India, I still think they are winning just because of two players. Jasprit Bumrah and Sanju Samson are making a big impact,” Mohammad Amir said on Geo News’ ‘Harna Mana Hai’ show.
“The Narendra Modi Stadium will suit New Zealand. Looking at the bowling department, I think New Zealand are in better form than India. I don’t think anyone else is in form except Bumrah. Both Varun Chakravarthy and Hardik Pandya are struggling,” he said.

Well, the former Pakistan fast bowler has emphasized that both the teams have “similar batting” and good players, but New Zealand’s bowling attack is in tremendous form while India is completely dependent on Bumrah. Seeing this, Aamir said, “I am confident that New Zealand will win.”

Pakistani panel divided on final prediction
Interestingly, during the discussion, not every Pakistani agreed with Aamir’s prediction. Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif and batsman Ahmed Shehzad backed India to lift the trophy.
Well, Mohammad Amir didn’t stop there, he posted a video on his YouTube channel and reiterated that the Black Caps are favorites to win the T20 World Cup 2026 final against India.
