India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, will take on New Zealand under Mitchell Santner in the much-awaited final of the T20 World Cup 2026. The summit clash between India and New Zealand will take place on Sunday, March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The home team booked their place in the semi-finals by defeating England by seven runs, while the Black Caps defeated South Africa by nine wickets to reach the final.

Weather update ahead of India vs New Zealand T20 World Cup 2026 final

Fans are curious about the weather conditions for the upcoming final match. According to the latest weather report from AccuWeather, the chances of rainfall throughout the day and evening are exactly zero percent.

The final is likely to go ahead without any rain interruptions or delays. Although rain won’t be an issue, heat will definitely be a factor. Temperatures in Ahmedabad are expected to be very hot and dry, reaching 41 degrees Celsius in the afternoon.

By the time the match starts at 7 pm, the temperature will be around 37 degrees Celsius but still the players will feel quite hot. As the night progresses, the temperature is expected to gradually drop to around 30 degrees Celsius, making conditions a little more comfortable.

What if rain affects the final?

The ICC prefers to conclude the T20 World Cup final on its original date. If the start of play is delayed due to rain, officials can use up to 120 minutes of extra time to ensure completion of the match on Sunday.

For the result to be declared, both teams must have the opportunity to bat for at least 10 overs. If the minimum 10 overs per side cannot be completed on Sunday, the match will be moved to the reserve day on Monday, March 9.

On the reserve day, play will resume from the exact point where it was stopped on the original scheduled day. If both the scheduled day and reserve day are washed out due to rain, India and New Zealand will be declared joint winners of the T20 World Cup.

Men in Blue’s record at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad

The Men in Blue have a very strong record of playing in Ahmedabad. In recent years, they have achieved big wins at the stadium against teams like Netherlands, South Africa and England.

Notably, India had also achieved a massive 168-run win against New Zealand at the same venue in 2023. However, the team still has to resolve some concerns before the first ball is bowled.

Top performers like Abhishek Sharma and Varun Chakravarthy are currently struggling to make a big impact in the tournament. Suryakumar Yadav is also short of runs and the team’s sixth bowling option remains a matter of concern. India will have to overcome these small hurdles and find a way to defeat the Kiwis.
