India’s national cricket team celebrated across the country after reaching the final of the T20 World Cup 2026 by defeating England by seven runs in the semi-finals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 5. After India’s thrilling win over England, Navjot Singh Sidhu mercilessly mocked former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir.
After Mohammad Aamir’s bold prediction about India backfired completely, the former Indian cricketer took a sharp dig at him. As India set up a title clash with New Zealand in Ahmedabad on March 8, the renowned commentator launched a spicy attack which quickly went viral online.
Navjot Singh Sidhu targets Mohammad Aamir after prediction fails
Before the T20 World Cup 2026 reached the final stage, Aamir had confidently predicted that India would not even be able to reach the title match. He predicted that South Africa and West Indies would fight for the trophy. But the tournament unfolded quite differently.

South Africa’s dream was dashed when New Zealand defeated them in the first semi-final, before India ended West Indies’ campaign in the Super 8 round. Soon after, the defending champions defeated England in a last-over thriller to book a place in the summit clash.
Sidhu then hit back with full force and mocked Aamir’s habit of making tall predictions without results. He suggested that some people talk big before a match but disappear when the reality comes.
Navjot Singh Sidhu said in a video posted on Instagram, “People around us have a big habit of making fake predictions. If it turns out to be true, good; if not, they shrug it off. If it works, they call it an arrow; if not, they say it was just a guess. And yet, they continue to behave like some kind of wise baba.”
The former World Cup winner further added, “To be honest, I think such people are just fake babas. First, they said India would not even qualify, would not reach the semi-finals. They claimed that West Indies and South Africa would go through. But as soon as Sanju Samson made a comeback, both those teams were sent packing. And today they said England would win the semi-finals, and England were also out.”

Sidhu concluded by saying, “So my point is that predictions don’t decide these things. The match is decided on the battlefield. You can’t earn the throne by begging for it. Empty vessels make the loudest noise. That’s the whole point.”
What did Mohammad Aamir say after India thrashed England?
However, after the match, Mohammad Amir took a U-turn and praised India for their great game against England in the semi-finals. Aamir said that Sanju Samson’s catch dropped by Harry Brook was the turning point of the game and if it had not happened then England would have been in the final.
Mohammad Amir said on a Pakistani TV show, “I talk about cricket. India played very good and complete cricket in this match after the entire tournament. We have to give credit where it is due. I made good predictions, but dropping catches is not in my hands.”
Same thing happens if you drop a catch of an in-form batsman. The only difference between the two teams was Bumrah. If Harry Brook had caught Samson, England would have achieved the target with one over remaining.
