All-rounder Hardik Pandya played an important role in Team India’s seven-run victory over England in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Hardik’s son Agastya and girlfriend Maheeka Sharma were spotted in the stands to watch the high-voltage clash on Thursday, March 5.

Invited to bat first, the Men in Blue posted a mammoth score of 253/7. Pandya scored 27 runs in 12 balls, which included three fours and two sixes. In reply, England reached 246 runs at the loss of seven wickets. The Baroda all-rounder took two wickets for 38 runs in his quota of four overs.

He played a vital role during England’s run chase by taking two important wickets. Hardik provided a decisive fielding opportunity by running out England centurion Jacob Bethell, whose brilliant innings of 105 almost took the game away.

India’s bowlers remained patient in the death overs, restricting England to 246/7. The Men in Blue booked their place in the final against Mitchell Santner-led New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

Sanju Samson scored 89 runs in 42 balls, which included eight sixes and seven fours. This was his second consecutive half-century in the tournament. Samson formed important partnerships with Ishan Kishan, who scored 39 off 18, and Shivam Dubey, who scored 43 off 25.

England remained in the contest, but India remained calm in the final overs. Jasprit Bumrah bowled a crucial 18th over which yielded only six runs, while Hardik Pandya bowled a tough final over. England eventually finished on 246/7, missing out by seven runs.

India also crossed 80 sixes, breaking their previous record of 61 in the tournament. It is noteworthy that this was India’s sixth highest score in T20I cricket. He scored 297/6 against Bangladesh in Hyderabad two years ago.
