Former England international Trott recently resigned from his position with the Afghan team after a successful stint.

The former England cricketer left his mark behind the remarkable success of the Afghanistan cricket team in the last few years. Afghanistan was being considered as the dark horse in the T20 World Cup 2026. But they were eliminated from the group stage itself. The team’s heartbreaking exit from the tournament also resulted in the departure of head coach Jonathan Trott.
Jonathan Trott told the media, “Maybe the time is right, maybe not. I don’t know, but I wish everyone the best for the future. I’m very grateful to get the opportunity. I got the opportunity by chance. Graham Thorpe was supposed to be the coach and he unfortunately couldn’t take the role.”
