“Jasprit Bumrah will be the biggest factor in the semi-final against England. Bumrah’s four overs will be important.” Kaif said.
Bumrah has been in excellent form throughout the tournament. In six matches so far, the Indian pacer has taken nine wickets at an impressive average of 14 while maintaining a tight economy rate of 6.30.
His track record against England in T20 Internationals is equally impressive. In five matches against the Three Lions, Bumrah has taken nine wickets at an average of 9.11, strike rate of 10.2 and economy rate of 5.34. Such statistics underline why Kaif believes the fast bowler can tilt the match in India’s favour.
England are known for their aggressive batting lineup, so Bumrah’s ability to perform well at crucial moments – especially in the powerplay and death overs – could prove to be decisive.
Kaif believes Wankhede pitch can pose a different challenge
Kaif also gave valuable information about the condition of the Wankhede Stadium pitch, suggesting that the surface may behave differently than the Eden Gardens, where India recently played against the West Indies.
Traditionally, teams winning the toss at Wankhede prefer to bowl first due to the possibility of dew under lights, which may make chasing easier. However, Kaif believes that the current pitch may not follow that familiar pattern.
