Pakistan national cricket team opening batsman Sahibzada Farhan has made a huge jump in the latest ICC men’s T20I batting rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday, March 4.
With Sahibzada Farhan gaining points, current world No. 1 batsman Abhishek Sharma has lost some momentum, and there is now only a 26-point gap between the India and Pakistan openers.
Although Pakistan exited the competition without reaching the semi-finals, Farhan certainly played one of the finest ICC tournaments that he will remember throughout his career.

Sahibzada Farhan set to dethrone Abhishek Sharma as world No. 1 T20I batsman
Abhishek Sharma currently has 874 rating points, and he is followed in the list by Sahibzada Farhan with 848 rating points. The next three batsmen in the list are Phil Salt, Ishan Kishan and Pathum Nissanka.
While Abhishek Sharma is having a very poor spell in his maiden ICC T20 World Cup tournament, Pakistani opener Sahibzada Farhan, who also played his maiden T20 World Cup, is roaring with his figures. His numbers were so high that he contributed almost 40% of the runs scored by Pakistan in the entire tournament.
He also became the first batsman in ICC T20 World Cup history to score two centuries in the same edition of the tournament. His second century in the World Cup at the Pallekele International Stadium set a record, also placing him second on the list with a new career-high rating.

From Ishan Kishan to Brian Bennett: Big changes in ICC men’s T20I batting rankings
Before the T20 World Cup, India played a big gamble. He removed Shubman Gill as the team’s opening batsman and also sidelined Sanju Samson and brought in Sunrisers Hyderabad wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan as the frontline gloveman and opener for the World Cup XI.
However, for India, the gamble paid off as Kishan not only bounced back but also made the Indian fans cheer loudly with his impressive performance.
