The Afghan Taliban retaliated by attacking Pakistani border posts, escalating tensions within hours. The two Asian neighbors agreed to a ceasefire in October 2025 after deadly cross-border fighting, but tensions have once again risen.

Pakistan said they targeted the terrorists after continuous attacks on its soil. Kabul has denied the allegations. Pakistan claimed to have killed more than 100 Taliban fighters, while Afghanistan said dozens of Pakistani soldiers were killed in fierce fighting and claimed to have captured posts along the border.

Hazratullah Zazai demands respect for Afghanistan’s sovereignty

Amid this cross-border war, Afghanistan batsman Hazratullah Zazai raised his voice for his people and demanded respect for the country’s sovereignty.

He further said, “Innocent families should never pay the price of political conflicts. The rain of bombs burns innocents, not the motherland. People will be everywhere; we are united in favor of the motherland. #LongLiveAfghanistan.”

On the other hand, Rahmanullah Gurbaz sent love for his motherland through his Instagram post and prayed for strength against the enemies. “My dear, beloved motherland, Afghan motherland, your brothers and sisters, may your enemies be defeated,” Gurbaz wrote on his Insta Story.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman and Pakistan Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has strongly defended Pakistan’s military action. The ACC president said the attacks inside Afghanistan were a strong and appropriate response to recent cross-border incidents.

He described the action as “open aggression”, as his ministry office claimed that Afghanistan opened “unprovoked firing at several locations” across the border in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

“Pakistan’s armed forces have given a befitting reply to the open aggression of the Afghan Taliban,” AFP quoted Naqvi as saying.

On the other hand, Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif issued a stern warning to Kabul and said that his armed forces are fully prepared to crush and defeat any threat against the country.

Meanwhile, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said that Pakistan has shown a lot of patience and the situation has now turned into an open war between the two countries.
