New troubles are knocking at the door for Pakistan as one of the key batsmen has been punished for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct, amid the T20 World Cup qualification scenario not being favorable to them.
The Pakistan Cricket Board is going through a tough time anyway, as their men’s team has made a poor start to their Super-8 campaign in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup. They qualified for the Super-8 stage after defeating the Netherlands, USA and Namibia, but did not win against any of the major powers.
Pakistan’s group-stage defeat came against rivals India. They lost this game by an embarrassing margin of 61 runs and then lost the match to England in their second game coming into the Super-8. The first match against New Zealand was abandoned without a single ball being bowled.
Pakistani batsman violated ICC code of conduct
Pakistan women’s team batsman Sidra Amin has increased the troubles of the people of Pakistan and the PCB by violating the ICC Code of Conduct during the first ODI of Pakistan’s tour of South Africa.
Sidra Amin has been officially reprimanded by the ICC for breaching Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “misuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an international match”.
The incident for which he was reprimanded occurred during the 24th over of the match, when he slammed his bat on the pitch after being dismissed by the Proteas. This is a repeat of the incident that happened during the match against India in the ICC Women’s World Cup last year.
Batsman admits Level 1 breach of ICC Code
Sidra accepted the allegations against him Shandre Fritz of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees waived the need for a formal hearing. However, this is his second offense within a period of 24 months, and hence, as per the rules, he has been issued one demerit point.
On-field umpires Karin Klaste and Nimali Perera, third umpire Lauren Agenbag and fourth umpire Stacey Lackey made the charge.
According to ICC rules and regulations, any player who violates Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct will be reprimanded, and fined 50% of their match fee along with one or two demerit points.
Pakistan started World Cup preparations with defeat
Pakistan women are going to South Africa to prepare for the Women’s T20 World Cup to be held in England in 2026. However, they have not made a promising start against the runners-up or the previous edition of the World Cup. South Africa was a finalist in the previous edition of both the T20 and ODI World Cups.
Sune Luus’s 93 runs, a quick half-century from Sinalo Jafta and some early hard work from captain Laura Wolvaardt helped South Africa post an impressive total of 260 runs.
Pakistan’s batsmen could not carry on their innings very well, their best innings coming from batsmen Sidra Amin and Ayesha Zafar. It was only because of their century partnership that Pakistan could take its score to 223 runs in the stipulated 41 overs.
