Ravindra Jadeja demands Test series against Nepal after R Ashwin’s post: The group stages of the 2026 T20 World Cup are about to end and only four matches are left to be played. The tournament has already found its eight teams for the Super 8 round. However, this tournament has been exciting and captivating to watch, as the associate nations have pulled off some upsets in the tournament.
Zimbabwe defeated Australia to advance to the next round. Nepal won their first game since 2014 against Scotland, ending a 12-year drought in T20 World Cup competitions. Nepal’s performance in the tournament has been excellent as they almost achieved the target of 185 runs in their very first game against England. They missed the run chase by four runs.
Ravindra Jadeja wants Nepal to play Test
He received praise from many former cricketers for his performance in this edition of the tournament. The cricket he has played and the development he has shown in this format of the game is challenging big countries. After their amazing campaign in the T20 World Cup, former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has shared his views on Nepal and their performance.

Sharing his views via Twitter Responding to his comment, his former Indian teammate, Ravindra Jadeja said, “This Ashif 3 Test match series??”
Why can’t Nepal play test series or matches?
However, despite Ravindra Jadeja’s comments on India playing the Test series against Nepal, the Allies will not be able to play Test matches as they have not secured a place as a Test playing nation. To get the Full Member Nation tag, the team will have to perform consistently and be ranked high in the ICC rankings.
According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), to achieve Test Nation Certification, a national team must achieve full membership of the ICC, which requires a high level of performance, strong domestic infrastructure (including multiple international-standard stadiums), financial stability and established, long-term development programs for men’s, women’s and age-group cricket.
Nepal fans arrived in large numbers
However, whenever Nepal played in this World Cup, it did not feel like they were away from home as the fans created a surreal atmosphere in the stadiums. Be it a friendly bilateral series, or CWC League 2 or T20 World Cup matches, the loyalty of Nepali fans has increased several times in the last decade.
Nepal’s cricket is on the path of development. After the win against the Scotland team, captain Rohit Paudel praised his players and also thanked the fans who turned up in large numbers at the Wankhede Stadium and Eden Gardens.
Paudel feels his team should play more against Test playing nations to improve their game and learn from the best cricketers around the world. This will showcase their abilities and test their abilities more in the shorter format of the game.
