India secured qualification for the Super Eights with an impressive 61-run win over Pakistan on Sunday, February 15. Chasing a target of 176 runs, Pakistan was all out for 114 runs in 18 overs. Usman Khan top-scored with 44 off 34, but India maintained control throughout the match and extended their recent dominance.

Mohsin Naqvi was no longer present in the VIP enclosure, although Pakistan were still batting. R. As the chase started to wind down at the Premadasa Stadium, officials from the media and hospitality section took notice of their exit.
Video footage shared by PTI showed Naqvi sitting in a car outside the stadium while the match was still going on. Media personnel confirmed that he left immediately after the dismissal of Mohammad Nawaz in the 12th over.

At that time, Pakistan’s score was 77/5 while chasing 176 runs, the required run rate was increasing rapidly. The visitors were eventually bowled out for 114 runs in 18 overs and lost by 61 runs.
PCB kept silence on Mohsin Naqvi’s early exit from the field
PCB has not given any official reason behind Mohsin Naqvi leaving the field early. In a big rivalry, even small actions are closely watched. After another major setback, fans have raised questions about responsibility, and the lack of clarity has intensified those questions.
Naqvi was under pressure even before the tournament started. He had earlier expressed doubts over Pakistan’s participation after Bangladesh was removed from the T20 World Cup 2026. He said that Pakistan’s stance was about earning respect.
That stance later turned into a threat of boycott during the match against India. After talks with ICC, Pakistan changed its decision and played in Colombo. The match went ahead only after the PCB took a U-turn.
India dominated Pakistan with strong batting and ruthless bowling performance
Pakistan won the toss and chose to bowl first. Abhishek Sharma was out for a duck, but India took the innings forward through Ishan Kishan, who scored 77 runs with the help of 10 fours and three sixes on a challenging pitch.
However, the Men in Blue slipped to 126/4, with Hardik Pandya also falling for 0. Captain Suryakumar Yadav along with Shivam Dubey and Rinku Singh took the team to a strong total of 175/7. Saim Ayub was the best bowler for Pakistan, who took 3 wickets for 25 runs.
In reply, Pakistan were reduced to 34/4 after early strikes from Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel. Usman Khan showed some resistance by scoring 44 off 34 balls, including six fours and a six, but he got little support from the rest of the lineup.
Indian bowlers maintained the pressure and bowled out Pakistan for 114 runs in 18 overs. Axar Patel led the attack with 2/29 in four overs, while Hardik Pandya (2/16), Jasprit Bumrah (2/17) and Varun Chakravarthy (2/17) also contributed.
