Former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly said that he is looking forward to the upcoming match between India and Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2026 in Colombo on Sunday, February 15. Ganguly also shared his enthusiasm about the current Indian team and revealed which players he likes to watch the most.
India started their T20 World Cup campaign with an impressive 29-run win over the United States. The Men in Blue traveled to Delhi for their next Group A game against Namibia on 12 February. They will then travel to Colombo for their much-awaited match against Pakistan on 15th February.

Sourav Ganguly said that the match against Pakistan will be one of the biggest matches of the T20 World Cup. He said that it would be very difficult for Pakistan to defeat India, which is a strong and balanced team.
“This will be a big match of the World Cup. This match is on February 15, it will not be easy for Pakistan to beat India. India is a very good team,” Sourav Ganguly told ANI in Kolkata.
The Pakistani government had threatened to boycott the match against India. On Monday, February 9, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) changed its stance after talks with the ICC and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Now the clash will take place as per schedule.

Sourav Ganguly said that the T20 World Cup has started excitingly, so far every team is competing well. Ganguly also named the names of his favorite players in the current Indian team. He picked Abhishek Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan as his favorite players.
“The tournament has started really well. So far it doesn’t feel like any team is out of place, be it Netherlands, Scotland or Nepal. Abhishek Sharma, Bumrah, Surya and Ishan Kishan are my favorites in the Indian team,” he said.

India and Pakistan boosted enthusiasm before the important match of T20 World Cup
Pakistan started their T20 World Cup 2026 campaign with a three-wicket win over Netherlands at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. They will play their next match on Tuesday, February 10 against the United States at the same venue.
India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, also started with a win by defeating America by 29 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Men in Blue will face Namibia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Thursday, February 12.
India and Pakistan have faced each other eight times in the T20 World Cup, with the Men in Blue holding an overall record of 7-1 against their arch-rivals. India had also defeated Pakistan in a group-stage match during the previous edition in 2024.
Due to political tensions the rivalry has been limited to ICC events and the Asia Cup in the last decade. India defeated Pakistan thrice in the 2025 Asia Cup in UAE.
