Michael Vaughan wants India vs Pakistan Test series: The India vs Pakistan 2026 T20 World Cup match has finally been finalized as Pakistan has finally agreed to U-turn its decision to boycott the match against their arch-rivals on February 15. The Pakistan Cricket Board had decided to withdraw its stance after long discussions with the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The PCB demanded three conditions before the apex body for an India vs Pakistan bilateral series, a tri-nation series with Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. However, this decision does not sit with the ICC as they have rejected these demands. The ICC then gave PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi one day to consult Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and confirm the board’s stand.
Pakistan should change its stance
In response, the Pakistan government changed its decision to boycott the game. They released a statement which mentioned that the Government of Pakistan has given the green signal that their national cricket team will take the field at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on February 15, 2026.
The PCB made five demands, including Pakistan’s request that Bangladesh not be fined for withdrawing from the T20 World Cup. The ICC was requested to award a compensation global tournament to Bangladesh after the Women’s T20 World Cup was shifted from the country to Dubai last year due to social unrest.
The Under-19 World Cup was offered for the next cycle as an alternative. Out of those five, only these two demands were fulfilled by the ICC and the remaining three were rejected.
Michael Vaughan demands a unique India vs Pakistan series
After the controversy, former England captain Michael Vaughan shared his views on the three-week long controversy. He believes that this is very good news for world cricket as the controversy is over. Michael Vaughan also wants India and Pakistan to play a three-match Test series in England.

Possibility of India vs Pakistan test match?
India and Pakistan have not played a Test series since 2007. The last Test between the two countries was played on December 8, 2007 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. The result of the match was a draw. India won the Test series against its arch-rivals 1–0. If there is a Test series between the two sides, it will be a treat to see them in white.
With the red ball in hand, bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj against bowlers like Babar Azam and Salman Ali Aga, it will be a different game altogether. Pakistan previously used England as its home ground due to security concerns in the country.
However, Michael Vaughan’s demand for a Test series does not seem to be fulfilled as the two countries have not played a bilateral series in over a decade. Their last bilateral series was in 2013 when Pakistan traveled to India.
