Indian batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi registered his name in the record books during the U19 World Cup 2026 final against England at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on Friday, February 6. The left-handed batsman registered the fastest century in a Men’s U19 World Cup final after reaching the milestone in just 55 balls.

India U19 won the toss and decided to bat first. However, they lost the wicket of Aaron George early. After this, Vaibhav Suryavanshi and captain Ayush Mhatre made an important partnership of 142 runs for the second wicket, which kept England under pressure for most of the innings and created a strong platform for the team.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi created history with a record breaking century

Vaibhav Suryavanshi completed his century in just 55 balls. The 14-year-old batsman became the youngest century scorer in U19 World Cup history and the fastest Indian player to score a century in the tournament. Notably, he scored the fastest century ever in a U19 World Cup final.

Suryavanshi broke the previous Indian record of a century in 69 balls held by Raj Angad Bawa in 2022. His innings is the second fastest century in U19 World Cup history behind Australia’s Will Malazczuk, who scored the century in 51 balls in the 2026 edition.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi breaks six-hitting and run-scoring records

Vaibhav Suryavanshi broke the all-time record for most sixes in U19 World Cup history. He hit 28 sixes in the tournament and went past South Africa’s Dewald Brewis, who hit 18 sixes in the 2022 edition.

Suryavanshi also finished as the leading run-scorer of the 2026 edition. He reached the top spot by surpassing Afghanistan’s Faisal Shinozada’s mark of 435 runs.

The left-handed batsman became the sixth player to score a century in the ICC U19 World Cup final and only the second Indian to achieve the feat. Unmukt Chand, Manjot Kalra, Brett Williams, Jarrad Burke and Stephen Peters are the other batsmen to score centuries in Junior World Cup finals.

Kishore first grabbed attention after securing a record IPL deal with Rajasthan Royals in the 2024 mega auction. He hit a six on the first ball of his IPL career and later scored a century in 35 balls, which is the fastest century by an Indian in IPL history. Vaibhav also became the youngest centurion in T-20 cricket.
