Ahead of the important match of Ranji Trophy 2025-26, Mumbai batsman Sarfaraz Khan keeps himself in a calm mindset. The aggressive intent he has shown in limited-overs matches was not at all visible in his eyes when he spoke to the media on the eve of Mumbai’s final league-round Ranji Trophy match against Delhi.
Khan was asked about his prospects in Team India. What he said in reply sounded like the words of a philosopher. He wants to keep his focus on regular routine.
Sarfaraz Khan talked about his chances in Team India
The Mumbai batsman, who recently registered his fifth first-class double century for Mumbai in a crucial match against Hyderabad, does not want to think about the days he went through. He doesn’t even want to think about the days to come, because his focus is only on the present.
“I try to live in the present. I can’t do anything about the past. I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow. I just know I have to go home, bat at home, spend time with my father, sleep in the hotel and play the match tomorrow. I don’t think about the future. I will keep doing what I have been doing for years,” Khan was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.
Sarfaraz Khan believes he is extremely lucky
Despite repeatedly playing match-winning innings, the selectors are yet to open the door for Sarfaraz Khan for the second time. But, it was Chennai Super Kings (CSK) who showed confidence in the batsman, who has been scoring runs at a rapid rate in recent matches for Mumbai.
Khan considers himself very lucky, as after playing together with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, he will be sharing the same dressing room with MS Dhoni.
Sarfaraz Khan said, “I played with Virat bhai in RCB. I never thought that I would get a chance to play with Rohit bhai, but I got a chance in the Test team. I never thought that I would play with Mahi bhai, especially after he retired from international cricket. But without being sold, CSK picked me in the IPL. I consider myself very lucky.”
Who can be the future captain of Team India?
Sarfaraz praised his brother Musheer Khan a lot. Sarfaraz believes that his brother has good leadership qualities and in future Musheer can also be made the captain of Team India.
Sarfaraz Khan said about his brother Musheer Khan, “I am working with Musheer too. His bowling complements his batting and vice versa. It is no big deal for him. Musheer will become the captain of the Indian team one day. I keep an eye on him. He is young and plays all three formats.”
Khan brothers will have to give their best performance for Mumbai vs Delhi match, because Delhi cricket team also has a lot of potential to demolish the opposition team.
