Nikki Prasad and Sneh Rana lead the fight for DC

Chasing 175, Delhi Capitals got off to a positive start through Shafali Verma, but her dismissal led to a steady loss of wickets. Senior batsmen Lizelle Lee, Laura Wolvaardt and captain Jemimah Rodrigues all got starts but failed to convert them into big scores.

As wickets kept falling, the Capitals fell behind on the required pace and at one point it seemed as if the chase was slipping away from their grasp.

When the game was winding down, Nikki Prasad and Sneh Rana launched a sensational counter-attack. Nicky played a fearless inning of 47 runs in just 24 balls, hitting fours at will and rekindled Delhi’s hopes.

Matching his intensity, Sneh Rana scored 29 runs in 15 balls and the two made a quick 70-run partnership that turned the match. 8 runs were needed in the last over and the Capitals were suddenly close to an impossible victory.

As the pressure mounted, Sophie Devine stepped up when it mattered most. He effectively sealed the contest for Gujarat Giants by dismissing both Sneh Rana and Nikki Prasad in a tense final over. His figures of 4 for 37 underlined his impact with the ball after first contributing with the bat.

Got support from Rajeshwari Gaikwad, who put on continuous pressure in the middle overs and bowled a brilliant spell of 3 wickets for 20 runs.
