It is still not confirmed whether IPL 2026 games will be held at RCB’s home venues, Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) addressed the matter during the IPL Governing Council meeting and has reportedly set a deadline to take a final decision.

Defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will not play their home matches in Bengaluru in IPL 2025 following the stampede incident last year. Rajasthan Royals (RR) will also change their home ground. Both the franchises are finalizing their home grounds for the upcoming marquee T20 tournament.

Rajasthan Royals should discuss with Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) and the state government. Royal Challengers Bengaluru also needs to talk to the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and the state government to decide whether matches can be staged in Bengaluru or not.

BCCI said that matches in Jaipur and Bengaluru will be held only if all the concerned bodies agree. The ongoing internal issues within the RCA have so far prevented the Royals from convincing the BCCI about hosting the games in Jaipur.

RCB eyes DY Patil Stadium for five home matches

Royal Challengers Bangalore wants to play its five home matches at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. However, IPL rules state that a team must obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the local franchise when hosting matches in another team’s city, as this impacts ticket revenues.

RCB is not interested in hosting matches in Bengaluru due to a new law passed by the Karnataka government after last year’s incident. Under this law, if any incident happens on the roads around the venue during any event, then the match organizers will be responsible.

There are also security and logistical concerns at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The area marked for fire brigade parking is currently being used for RCB’s music setup, where a DJ operates. The final decision now depends on RCB getting the NOC from Mumbai Indians.

IPL schedule put on hold due to awaiting election dates in Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Assam

The Indian Premier League schedule has not been released yet due to elections in key states. Elections are scheduled to be held in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Assam during March and April this year, but the Election Commission of India has not yet confirmed the voting dates.

Due to this delay, IPL officials have stopped announcing the final schedule. The complete list will be made public only after the Election Commission officially announces the election timeline for these states.

IPL matches are expected to be held in multiple cities: Chennai, Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai (Wankhede), Kolkata, Ahmedabad, New Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Dharamshala, Visakhapatnam, Guwahati, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Navi Mumbai (DY Patil), and Thiruvananthapuram.
