After becoming the first foreign player to retire in the history of BBL, Pakistan batsman Mohammad Rizwan has made a complete mockery of himself as well as the country.
However, latest claims suggest that the Melbourne Renegades captain and head coach has apologized to the Pakistani batsman for his disrespectful conduct.
Pakistan players Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam along with many other players are participating in the current 15th edition of the Big Bash League. Wicketkeeper batsman Rizwan was picked by Melbourne Renegades, while Babar was picked by Sydney Sixers.
Mohammad Rizwan humiliated Pakistan after retiring in BBL
In their last game against Sydney Thunder, when Melbourne Renegades, already the second-last team in the points table, found themselves in a slow spot due to Mohammad Rizwan’s slow approach to the format, the BBL witnessed its first bizarre move.
Captain Will Sutherland recalled Mohammad Rizwan, and he was declared retired as the captain walked into the middle. However, the captain’s stay was cut short due to a runout.
Rizwan, whose innings ended with 26 runs off 23 balls, was left feeling humiliated to become the first foreign cricketer to retire in the history of the BBL. His head bowed in shame and his hopes of playing T20 World Cup for Pakistan were also shattered.

Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan should work on their strike rate
While Mohammad Rizwan has managed to score just 167 runs in his 8 innings for the Renegades, Babar Adam’s stats are even worse, having scored just 154 runs with two half-centuries in the BBL. Apart from lack of runs, his batting strike rate has also been very poor.
Kamran Akmal, one of the former Pakistani stars, said, “You have talked in detail on your show and on YouTube about how Babar and Rizwan should improve their strike rates. What happened to Rizwan has not only been ridiculed across the world but has also created a sense of humiliation. Some people are even saying that Rizwan should leave the league and return home.”
“Absolutely. I also believe it shouldn’t happen; he’s our top player and a proven performer. However, you have to realize how fast these leagues are,” he added.
“Every country is now taking a modern approach towards cricket, so it is important to evolve ourselves accordingly. We have seen similar strategic moves in the ILT20 and IPL,” he said.
