England fast bowler Chris Jordan has played many matches against India in his illustrious career and has also participated in franchise leagues like IPL, where he has bowled to many Indian batsmen. He picked CSK veteran and former Indian captain MS Dhoni as the toughest Indian batsman to bowl to, while ignoring Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
Rivalry and fighting between players is nothing new in the game of cricket. However, some player battles have been historic, such as Shoaib Akhtar vs Virender Sehwag battle, Virat Kohli vs Mitchell Starc battle, Jasprit Bumrah vs Joe Root battle, and many more.
While Kohli has been the most dangerous batsman in this era, and his supreme class while chasing makes him one to watch during the second innings, English bowlers have claimed that MS Dhoni is the toughest they have bowled to.
Chris Jordan picks MS Dhoni as his toughest Indian opponent
England fast bowler Chris Jordan has picked former Indian captain MS Dhoni as the toughest Indian batsman, while he ignored great players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
Rohit Sharma was the fourth batsman for India to complete 20000 international runs after Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli. He also went ahead of former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly in the list of highest scorers for India.
On the other hand, great Indian batsman Virat Kohli is just a few points behind the second highest run-scorer in international cricket. He is also the second highest centurion in world cricket.
Former Indian captain MS Dhoni led India to three ICC titles in all ICC tournaments during his time. He also led them with the bat, scoring over 17000 runs in his career, which is amazing for a batsman who bats lower down the order.
Jordan’s record against MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma
Jordan had bowled to MS Dhoni during his playing days, in England shirt and also in the IPL. Dhoni remained unbeaten in Test cricket against Jordan, after scoring 49 runs off 90 balls against them. While in white-ball cricket, Jordan dismissed Dhoni twice as the Indian great scored 48 runs off 38 balls.
Jordan also had some notable success against Indian legend Virat Kohli, as he dismissed him thrice across all formats and the Indian master also managed to score 121 runs off 111 balls against him.
Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, is putting pressure on Jordan to score runs, especially in the shortest format of the game. However, Rohit, who scored three runs off 17 balls in the Tests and 4 runs off 13 balls in the ODIs, mastered Jordan in the shortest format, scoring 72 runs off 46 balls with only one dismissal.
Chris Jordan played for RCB, CSK and MI in IPL
Chris Jordan may have played just 30 career matches in the IPL, but he has played for 5 different franchises, obviously playing the most matches in a PBKS shirt. Starting with RCB in 2016, he played 9 matches for them under the captaincy of Virat Kohli and reached the final.
He reached another final with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2018. Jordan played for Chennai Super Kings under the partial leadership of MS Dhoni in 2022 and last played in the IPL for Mumbai Indians under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma in 2023.
