Babar Azam’s marriage: Journalist Shahid Hashmi has made a big comment on former Pakistan captain Babar Azam amid poor performance for Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League (BBL). Hashmi said that Babar may have to face pressure off the field and disagreements regarding marriage, which is affecting him mentally.

Babar is currently playing for Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League. He has scored 131 runs in six matches at an average of 26.20 and a disappointing strike rate of 111.96, which includes two half-centuries. One of those half-centuries came off 41 balls, the joint-slowest half-century in the 15th season of the T20 tournament.

Controversy in Babar Azam family: Journalist claims, family pressure regarding marriage can affect Babar

In a recent interview on PakPassion YouTube channel, Shahid Hashmi said that Babar Azam may be under mental stress due to family disagreements regarding marriage. He said that Babar’s family wants his marriage to take place within the family, while the batsman prefers a different option.

Hashmi said, “She has some problems. I think maybe mental problems, maybe some family problems, because we are hearing a lot of stories that her marriage is going on very soon.” “His family, his father and mother, want him to marry his cousin. He wants to marry someone else.”

He said, “If these rumors are to be believed, if these reports are to be believed, then perhaps this problem is causing some mental problems. That is why he is not getting out to good balls or good bowlers, but playing loose shots himself.”

Shahid Hashmi said that Babar’s recent struggles are more mental than technical. Hashmi feels that the right guidance can help Babar gain confidence and form. He expressed hope that Sydney Sixers coach Greg Shipperd could play a key role.

“We have seen it in international series, in the 2023 World Cup and now in the Big Bash as well. In the latest match Tom Curran trapped him very cleverly and got out for two or three runs. He is not scoring runs.”

“They need a good coach. When the Asia Cup squad was announced, Mike Hesson had said that Babar Azam will have a chance to perform well, score some runs and gain some confidence in the Big Bash,” Hashmi said.

External pressure forced Hesson to include Babar – Shahid Hashmi

Hashmi said that there may be a change in the plan due to external pressure. He said that outside noise probably prompted Mike Hesson to include Babar in the tri-series against South Africa. While Babar played some good innings, Hashmi felt that his overall batting form during the series was still below expectations.

“But perhaps external noise, perhaps some pressure from outside forced Hesson to include him in the tri-series against South Africa. He scored some runs. He played some good innings, but overall his form, his batting was not satisfactory.”
