Former Team India captain Rohit Sharma ended the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 campaign after playing two matches for his state team, Mumbai. The right-handed batsman has returned home after giving some memorable moments to the fans and will not play for the team in the remaining matches of the ongoing tournament.
Rohit was out without opening the account in the second round of the tournament. Uttarakhand fast bowler Devendra Singh Bora dismissed him for a golden duck in Jaipur on Friday, 26 December. Notably, the veteran batsman scored an inning of 155 runs in Mumbai’s opening match against Sikkim, where they won.

According to Indian Express journalist Devendra Pandey, Rohit has returned home after finishing his short stint in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He was scheduled to play only a few matches for Mumbai in the tournament.

Fans came in large numbers to see him in Jaipur. After his dismissal, many spectators left the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, but a few remained to catch a glimpse of the star batsman.
Mumbai is scheduled to face Chhattisgarh on December 29, so it is expected that Mumbai Cricket Association will soon announce Rohit’s replacement. Mumbai currently top the Group C points table and are on track to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Rohit has returned to Mumbai after completing his Vijay Hazare Trophy stint in Jaipur, where he represented Mumbai in the domestic tournament.
Soon after reaching the city, Rohit was seen spending time with his wife Ritika Sajdeh outside the field. The couple went out for a late night dinner in Mumbai, and gave fans a glimpse of their free time after returning from cricket duties.
The videos quickly went viral on social media platforms, with fans sharing pictures and clips of the star batsman enjoying a relaxing evening after returning from Jaipur.

Despite Rohit Sharma’s golden duck, Mumbai registered its second consecutive win.
Despite Rohit’s dismissal for a golden duck, Mumbai registered their second consecutive win in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. After the initial shock, Mumbai’s middle order helped the team score a total of 331 runs in the allotted 50 overs.
Musheer Khan and Sarfaraz Khan scored 55-55 runs, while Hardik Tamore played an important role by scoring 93 not out. Shams Mulani (48) and Shardul Thakur (29) scored valuable runs.
In reply, Yuvraj Choudhary top-scored with 96 runs, while Jagadeesha Suchith added 51 runs, but he did not get support from others. Shardul Thakur, Omkar Tarmale and Musheer Khan took two wickets each, while Mulani and Tanush Kotian took one wicket each.
The 38-year-old is expected to be a part of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand starting January 11 in Vadodara. He scored 202 runs, including a century, against Australia, and recorded two half-centuries in the home ODI series against South Africa.
