Former Team India captain Rohit Sharma ended the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 campaign after playing two matches for his state team, Mumbai. The right-handed batsman has returned home after giving some memorable moments to the fans and will not play for the team in the remaining matches of the ongoing tournament.

Rohit was out without opening the account in the second round of the tournament. Uttarakhand fast bowler Devendra Singh Bora dismissed him for a golden duck in Jaipur on Friday, 26 December. Notably, the veteran batsman scored an inning of 155 runs in Mumbai’s opening match against Sikkim, where they won.

According to Indian Express journalist Devendra Pandey, Rohit has returned home after finishing his short stint in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He was scheduled to play only a few matches for Mumbai in the tournament.

In reply, Yuvraj Choudhary top-scored with 96 runs, while Jagadeesha Suchith added 51 runs, but he did not get support from others. Shardul Thakur, Omkar Tarmale and Musheer Khan took two wickets each, while Mulani and Tanush Kotian took one wicket each.

The 38-year-old is expected to be a part of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand starting January 11 in Vadodara. He scored 202 runs, including a century, against Australia, and recorded two half-centuries in the home ODI series against South Africa.
