Australian batsman Travis Head took a dig at England legend Stuart Broad after the home team secured its third consecutive win in the ongoing Ashes 2025-26 series. The left-handed batsman shared a four-word comment during the Ashes series win celebrations, which caught attention on the social media platform.

Australia won the Ashes series in just 11 days, equaling the record set by Steve Waugh’s teams in the early 2000s. The hosts dominated the series despite the absence of key players. Steve Smith missed the Adelaide Test, Pat Cummins was unavailable for the first two matches and Josh Hazlewood was ruled out of the series.

Before the series began, many England supporters expected their team to dominate. However, Australia got the better of them and took an unassailable 3–0 lead in the five-match series.

Travis Head takes dig at Stuart Broad after retaining Ashes

Travis Head did not miss the opportunity to hit back at Stuart Broad after Australia’s brilliant performance in the Ashes. Before the series, Broad had claimed that Australia is in its weakest position since 2010, while England is in its strongest position.

Broad had said, “This is probably the worst Australian team since 2010 when England last won, and this is the best English team since 2010.”

After Australia asserted their dominance, Head posted a picture on social media with captain Pat Cummins. The post shared on Instagram Stories gained immediate attention. Head’s brief message is a stark reminder of how wrong that prediction turned out to be.

“Is it 2010 yet?” Travis Head captioned a photo of himself holding a drink with Cummins on social media.

Do I regret saying this? – Stuart Broad

Speaking on the For the Love of Cricket podcast, Stuart Broad said the criticism had not changed his view. The former England fast bowler said he still feels the current Australian team does not match up to some of the great teams of the past.

“Do I regret saying that? No. I said Australia would have to play very poorly and England would have to play very well to lose the Ashes,” Broad said on the For the Love of Cricket podcast.

“Australia haven’t played too bad and England haven’t played too well either. I saw Australia as favourites, but I didn’t see them beating them 3-0 as favourites. There are a lot of things that have gone England’s way [in terms of injury and illness suffered by Australian players]England weren’t that good after all, Australia has been consistent in everything it has done, He shows that age is just a number,”

Travis Head’s promotion makes big impact for Australia

Travis Head’s arrival at the top of the order has been good for Australia. He has given a fast start to the team and has put England under pressure at the beginning of the innings.

Head scored a century in the first Test in Perth and followed it up with another big innings in Adelaide. In Adelaide, Head came to open while Australia was already leading in the first innings. He shared a crucial stand with Usman Khawaja and then formed a big partnership with Alex Carey.

Head missed a double century but still played a match-winning innings of 170 runs. Australia lost wickets after his dismissal, but the damage was already done. His innings helped Australia set a big target.
