Marnus Labuschagne hits back at Stuart Broad after Australia capture the Ashes
The Ashes has always been known for its fierce battles and unforgettable moments between England and Australia, and this edition was no different. After Australia announced their squad, former England fast bowler Stuart Broad started a war of words by questioning the strength of the Australian team and calling it “the worst Australian team since 2010–11”.

This comment did not go unnoticed in the Australian camp. Instead of responding with words, the home team gave a befitting reply with its dominance. Playing in home conditions, the Kangaroos were brutal from the start of the ongoing Test series.
They completely defeated England inside three days in Perth, followed it up with another spectacular win at the Gabba and then delivered the final blow in Adelaide. As Australia still retained the Ashes urn with two matches remaining, Labuschagne did not back down.

Encouraged by the team’s impressive performance, Labuschagne took a sharp dig at English cricket pundits, including Broad, saying their criticism had put Australia in further trouble in the Ashes. He said Australia responded perfectly by taking a 3–0 lead and clinching the vase.
However, star batsman Marnus Labuschagne has insisted that his work is not done yet, as the Australians now aim for a complete 5-0 clean sweep against England in the ongoing Ashes 2025-26.

Marnus Labuschagne said on ABC Sport after the Adelaide Test: “All the media hype – we have to say it – about being called the worst Australian team in 15 years… As if it’s nice to sit three-nil where we are. The job is not done yet; we want to make sure it’s 5-0 and actually take that vase.”
Had the Australian team heard all the lies from the pundits calling them “the worst Australian team since 2010” before the Ashes started?
Yes they did. And now he has answered it.

Pat Cummins credits Australia’s Ashes success to team depth
Meanwhile, Australia captain Pat Cummins said the team is thrilled after the hard-fought victory in the Ashes. He said that winning such a long Test series requires more than just the playing eleven and stressed the importance of sticking to our strengths rather than worrying too much about the opposition.
“It feels great; I’ve been thinking about this series for a long time. It wasn’t easy today, but we got it done and are really excited about the changing room. First of all, you need more than just 11 players in an Ashes series – in five Tests and even three Tests, we’ve shown that. We’ve used 14 or 15 players. Steve was great. It’s always, always this way,” Cummins said in the post-match presentation. It’s about focusing on what we do really well.” The bowlers are not trying to get carried away by the opposition, most of the time we focus on what we do well.”
