A shocking incident has come to light in Bangladesh cricket before the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 to be held in India and Sri Lanka. Local police have filed a charge sheet against Bangladesh ‘A’ team all-rounder Tofail Ahmed Rehan in a sexual harassment case.
Tofail Ahmed Raihan has been accused of sexually assaulting a young woman after making her believe he wanted to marry her. Police confirmed that a case has been registered under Section 9(1) of the Prevention of Women and Children Repression Act.

“The charge sheet has been filed under Section 9 (1) of the Prevention of Women and Child Repression Act,” the investigating officer, sub-inspector Mohammad Samiul Islam of Gulshan police station, said on Thursday (December 11), reports Cricbuzz.
The next hearing is scheduled for December 30, when the charge sheet will be placed before the court. Case documents state Tofel first contacted the woman on Facebook in January. Their conversations on messenger became regular and gradually a romantic relationship began.
Tofel Ahmed Raihan accused of repeated sexual harassment
The woman initially refused but later agreed as Tofel repeatedly told her that he planned to marry her. According to the complaint, the Bangladeshi cricketer took her to a hotel in Gulshan on January 31, introduced her as his wife and then allegedly forced her to perform sexual acts.
She claimed that the all-rounder promised to marry her again later. The woman also said that Rehan sexually harassed her several times on different days, but finally when she insisted, he refused to marry her.
After suffering for several months, she lodged a case of repeated sexual assault at Gulshan police station on August 1. On September 24, the High Court granted six weeks anticipatory bail to Tofel and directed her to appear before the Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal before the bail expires.

Bangladesh cricketer defies court order, career in danger due to strong evidence
However, the cricketer did not follow the court order. Instead, despite the ongoing case and bail conditions, Taufel traveled to Hong Kong to play in a six-a-side tournament for the Bangladesh ‘A’ team. His decision to leave the country has raised even more serious questions about his actions.
Now, the police have confirmed that they have strong evidence to support the case. They have collected hotel records, medical reports and statements of those involved, all of which help corroborate the woman’s allegations, putting the all-rounder’s career in serious jeopardy.
While all the participating teams are busy preparing for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka, Bangladesh do not have any T20I games before heading into the mega event. The tournament will be held in February-March, while the Tigers played their international games earlier this month.
