India’s young batting sensation, Yashasvi Jaiswal has revealed the most hard-working player in the Indian cricket team, and surprisingly, it is not Virat Kohli. The former Indian captain has set an ideal benchmark of dedication in the game of cricket.

His unmatched discipline, practice and continuous improvement since his international debut in 2008 has amazed everyone and inspired many. At the age of 37, even after retiring from Tests and T20Is, Kohli continues to train with the intensity of a young cricketer.

Yashasvi Jaiswal called Shubman Gill the most hardworking cricketer of India.

However, Jaiswal believes that India’s current Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill is the most hard-working player in the team. The Indian star believes that Gill’s dedication to every aspect of the game – fitness, diet, skills and training routine – is unmatched. Jaiswal highlighted that Gill’s consistency in preparation and commitment to improving every day is remarkable.

Yashasvi Jaiswal said at the ‘Agenda Aaj Tak’ Conclave, “Shubhman Gill. I have watched him very closely recently. He works very hard and is also very consistent about his routine. He works a lot on his fitness, diet, skills and training. It is incredible. I really enjoy watching him and playing with him. He is also an amazing person.”

Yashasvi Jaiswal praises Shubman Gill for record-breaking England tour

After Rohit Sharma’s retirement from Test cricket, Shubman Gill was given the captaincy and he has lived up to every expectation. Gill proved himself to be brilliant during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in England, where he became the leading run-scorer in the series.

He scored 754 runs in 10 innings at an average of 75.40, which included four brilliant centuries. Under Gill’s leadership, the Indian cricket team made a strong comeback and finished with a 2–2 draw. Back home, Gill continued his good form as captain to lead India to a clean 2-0 win over West Indies.

Gill’s performances in England have left a deep impression on Jaiswal, who said it is inspiring to watch and play with the Indian captain. He emphasized that with every match the team’s confidence in its young captain increases.

The Mumbaikar further said, “He batted brilliantly and intelligently during the England Test series. We had confidence in him that he would perform well in every situation.”

Yashasvi Jaiswal dreams big but remains patient ahead of ICC T20 World Cup 2026

When asked about the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026, Jaiswal made his intentions clear. He said that playing in the tournament is his biggest dream, but right now he is just focusing on improving his game and patiently waiting for his chance.

India’s T20I team already looks settled, but there are growing concerns over the form of vice-captain Shubman Gill, who has not scored a half-century in his last 16 T20I innings. There are less than two months left for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 and Jaiswal is unlikely to be a part of the squad.

“My dream is to play the T20 World Cup, but I will try to focus on my game and bide my time,” he said. When asked about his ambition to lead India one day, Jaiswal said, “Yes, if I get a chance, I would like to lead India.”
