While social media has bridged the gap between cricketers and fans, it is also becoming a major headache for players and support staff members. Every small mistake is being criticized by the fans and it usually leads to heavy trolling.
Recently, Gambhir indirectly targeted Delhi Capitals owner Parth Jindal when he suggested split coaching. Following India’s 2–0 defeat in the Test series against South Africa, Jindal suggested on Twitter (formerly Twitter) that India should appoint a red-ball specialist as their Test coach.
These comments did not go down well with Gambhir and he hit back: “Some things were said by people who had nothing to do with cricket. An IPL owner even wrote about split coaching. It is very surprising. It is important for people to stay in their domain. We do not go into their domain. So, they have no right to interfere in what we do.”
