In a virtual knockout to make the playoffs, Perry’s breathtaking 111 off 71 balls set up a tense finish as the Sixers made their first post-season appearance in three years.

Batting first in this crucial match, the Sixers scored 173/4, thanks to Perry’s masterclass at the top. The Australian superstar hit 16 fours and three sixes, controlling the innings right from the start and ensuring the Sixers took the initiative in the high-pressure encounter.

Despite Perry’s brilliance, the Adelaide Strikers pushed the match to the final overs. Bridget Patterson opened the chase with a blistering half-century off 30 balls to take the Strikers closer to an incredible comeback win from a slow start.

The Strikers needed 18 runs from the final over and Patterson immediately put Ashley Gardner under pressure with two fours and a six, making the contest a close one. After taking a single, she left Amanda-Jade Wellington to finish the chase. Gardner bowled out Wellington, leaving the equation with the three runs needed to win off the last ball.

A desperate attempt by Sophie Ecclestone to steal the second run and force a Super Over was stopped by a sharp run-out of Alyssa Healy, Sixers seal dramatic win And eliminated the Strikers from the playoff race.

With just a one-run win, the Sixers finished the league stage in second place, leaving them one win away from the WBBL|11 final at Bellerive Oval on 13 December. They will host the winner of the knockout between the Perth Scorchers (3rd) and the Melbourne Stars (4th).

Perry survives scare before reaching historic third WBBL century

Perry, who was named player of the match, needed composure and a bit of luck to reach her historic century. At the score of 65, he offered a catch only for replays to confirm that the bowler Tahlia McGrath had overstepped. Later on 91, he deflected a Wellington delivery onto his stumps, but Bales refused to budge – a moment that stunned the crowd.
