The 23-year-old Indian national cricket team’s left-handed opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal scored an incredible century in the third and final ODI of the series against the South Africa national cricket team.

The century against the Aiden Markram-led side helped young batting sensation, Yashasvi Jaiswal become only the sixth Indian to score a century in all three formats of the game.

Jaiswal is considered to be the next big thing in Indian cricket, and many current and former cricketers consider him a better batsman than Test and ODI captain, Shubman Gill.

The left-handed opening batsman has repeatedly played sensational innings for India in Test cricket, and in the Indian Premier League (IPL), he has been in good form for Rajasthan Royals (RR).

However, due to the depth in the Indian cricket team, he has not been able to cement a place in the white-ball teams despite performing exceptionally well in limited opportunities.

During the India vs South Africa series, Jaiswal came under criticism for not playing big innings and getting out similarly to left-arm fast bowlers.

However, the left-handed batsman eventually managed to bounce back with a stellar performance in the third ODI, where he scored his maiden ODI century.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was cautious in the beginning and took time to settle down in the middle. He reached the half-century milestone in 75 balls, but managed to accelerate to reach the three-figure milestone in 111 balls.

On the second ball of the 36th over, Yashasvi Jaiswal took a single by flicking the length ball of Corbin Bosch and completed his century. After scoring the century, the batsman became completely excited and celebrated aggressively with Virat Kohli.

With his century, he joined Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill in the list of batsmen who have scored centuries in all formats for India.

I really enjoyed and I am really grateful and blessed-Jaiswal

After winning the Player of the Match award, Yashasvi Jaiswal said that he is blessed and grateful. He also revealed how interacting with players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma has helped him improve his game.

He said, “I really enjoyed and I am really grateful and blessed. We have been talking a lot about how we can play, set the pace. In the last two matches I could not bowl the variations and I was thinking how can I balance the innings. Sometimes I used to think about attacking, then thinking about scoring single runs.”

“I have to control my thoughts as to what shots I can play. If it is required, I need to go after the bowlers. Of course Virat Paaji came in and played a lot of shots. He keeps giving me small targets and I really enjoyed that.”
