Nandre Berger has provided South Africa with a vital breakthrough as one of India’s most dangerous batsmen, Rohit Sharma, fell cheaply to a fast ball in the ongoing second ODI at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur.
Rohit Sharma came into the second ODI on the back of three consecutive half-centuries but the senior opener failed to maintain the momentum as South Africa aim to level the ongoing three-match ODI series against India in Raipur after losing the first game in Ranchi by just 17 runs.
India lost the toss for the 20th time, Rohit Sharma fell early while South Africa made a comeback
India’s strange luck with the toss will not end yet. After KL Rahul lost the toss in Raipur, the Indian cricket team has now lost the toss in 20 consecutive ODI matches. This streak started right after the 2023 World Cup final in Ahmedabad, where they lost the trophy to Australia.

Well, South Africa won the toss and once again invited the Indian team to bat first in the series and Nandre Berger finally got the reward for continuously troubling Rohit Sharma in his third over. He kept bowling in the perfect channel outside the off stump and teasing the outside edge again and again.
The first two times, Rohit’s soft touch swept the short third fielder for the boundary, but the third time, Berger’s plan worked. In the 5th over, Burger bowled a ball with a speed of 138.5 km/h which was far enough to trouble the former Indian captain after pitching. Rohit remained in his crease and tried to defend, but the ball hit the outside edge of his bat.
Nandre Berger’s perfect plan worked against Rohit Sharma in Raipur ODI
South African wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock reacted quickly, took the catch and tossed the ball into the air with confidence. But Berger was not completely convinced and even the on-field umpire did not give him out. However, De Kock was confident and convinced his captain Temba Bavuma to use DRS.
Bavuma immediately went for review, and the third umpire checked the ultraedge, which showed a clear spike as the ball passed through Rohit’s bat, giving South Africa a big wicket. In Raipur ODI, Rohit went out of the crease after scoring 14 runs in 8 balls including three fours.
This dismissal angered Indian fans, with many calling for Rohit to retire from international cricket. The Hitman has already retired from Test and T20I cricket and now he aims to play in the ICC World Cup 2027 before bidding goodbye to the international arena. For which he is working hard on his fitness.

Took Rohit Sharma’s earring also. This selfish Jaiswal is a bastard. He was playing poorly in the last match also. Can’t rotate strike at all

That a batsman like Rohit Sharma faced only 5-6 balls in the first 4 overs is beyond words https://t.co/CwzVjgFghG

Jaiswal was out again against the left arm fast bowler.
Basking in the guise of Rohit Sharma
Just my theory, Jaiswal is not able to play freely because he knows he is giving perfection to senior batsman and former captain Rohit Sharma, which will make him a villain if he performs well.#INDvSA
