India were asked to chase a mammoth target of 549 runs in the final innings of the Guwahati Test, but the team collapsed for only 140 runs on the 5th day. The match ended one-sided and Temba Bavuma’s team took a 2-0 lead.
After the series defeat, Gautam Gambhir had to face questions in the press conference. He accepted the responsibility but also reminded everyone that under his coaching India had won the Asia Cup and Champions Trophy earlier this year. He said that BCCI will decide about his future.
According to NDTV, the board is not planning to remove him yet, as his contract is till 2027. Gambhir will now prepare for the three-match ODI series against South Africa at home starting from November 30 in Ranchi.
