
Perth Scorchers Women registered a spectacular four-wicket win over Melbourne Renegades Women in the 25th match. WBBL|11 SeasonHeld at the Junction Oval in Melbourne on Thursday. After Perth Scorchers won the toss and elected to bowl, Melbourne Renegades set a challenging target of 150 runs before being bowled out on the last ball of the 20th over.
The innings started with a brilliant performance from wicketkeeper-batsman Nicole Faltom, who played a strong inning of 41 not out off 28 balls. Faltom’s innings included six fours, which provided much-needed momentum in the death overs. However, the Scorchers’ bowlers continued to apply pressure, leading to a loss of wickets.
The Scorchers’ bowling unit shared the spoils efficiently:
- captain Sophie Devine He led hard from the front and took 2 wickets for 16 runs in two overs.
- Young fast bowler Chloe Ainsworth performed impressively, taking 2 wickets for 17 runs.
- Amy Edgar also equaled Divine and took 2 wickets for 34 runs.

Sophie Devine and Beth Mooney set the stage for the Scorchers chase
Chasing 151, the Scorchers got off to a great start with the help of a big opening stand between captain Sophie Devine and wicketkeeper Beth Mooney.
Devine was in devastating form, scoring 46 runs off just 24 balls at an astonishing strike rate of 191.67. His innings, which included six fours and two sixes, broke the back of the chase before falling in the sixth over. Mooney played an important supporting role and contributed 41 runs on 31 balls.

The Renegades fought valiantly in the middle overs, mainly through the off-spin of Alice Capsey. He bowled a brilliant spell taking four quick wickets to bring the Renegades back into the contest:
Capsey first dismissed Katie Mack and then took the wickets of Mooney, Paige Scofield and Chloe Ainsworth.
Capsy performed brilliantly by taking 4 wickets for 14 runs in his three overs.
However, the Scorchers’ deep batting lineup ensured that the momentum was not completely ruined.

When the score stood at 118 for 6, an unbeaten partnership between Freya Kemp (18 not out off 14 balls) and Lily Mills (15 not out off 16 balls) took the team home safely. Their calm, unbroken partnership of 33 runs helped the Scorchers comfortably cross the finish line in the 19th over.
