Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar justified his promotion to the Indian middle-order by playing a fighting innings amid a disgusting collapse in the Indian batting order. Despite all his efforts, he was seen crying when India lost the match.
India lost the first Test against South Africa in humiliating fashion as they failed to chase down the target of only 124 runs in the final innings of the game. The Indians did not need to rush, with around 250 overs left in the game. Despite this, the entire batting lineup collapsed like a house of cards.
Washington Sundar, disappointed with the defeat against South Africa, was seen crying
No one would have thought that two-time WTC finalists India would lose while chasing a modest target of 124 runs on their own home ground. Obviously, Eden Gardens was not offering anything to the batsmen, yet the defeat proved disastrous for India.
When the Indian top order collapsed on another occasion, all-rounder Washington Sundar was promoted to bat at no. 3 for India, kept his courage against the Indians to provide some resistance to India. The batsman was out as soon as India’s sixth wicket fell.
India still had hopes from Axar Patel’s short cameo, but when he was out and Mohammed Siraj’s wicket fell on the very next ball, Sundar could not hold back his tears and broke down in an expression of extreme grief.
