Watch: Kyle Verreen throws away his wicket with a powerful shot against India
Kyle Verreen played a careless shot in South Africa’s second innings. On the fifth ball of the 28th over, the wicketkeeper-batsman attempted an unnecessary sweep against Axar Patel. However, he completely misjudged the delivery, breaking his stumps.
Bowling a straight and full ball from around the wicket, Axar took the ball at an angle as Varane got down on one knee for the sweep.
Captain Temba Bavuma looked disappointed after being dismissed as Kyle Verreynne walked back disappointed after scoring only nine runs. Meanwhile, Axar celebrated the first wicket of the innings and tightened the grip on India, deepening South Africa’s collapse.

Earlier on the first day, the South African team was bundled out for just 159 runs in 55 overs. Jasprit Bumrah took five wickets, while Mohammad Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets each to destroy the visiting team.
