Indian captain Shubman Gill has lost another toss. Since the beginning of his Test career as India captain, he has been losing the toss consistently. After losing another toss, he made a unique claim while hoping to win the toss in the WTC final.
India have begun proceedings for the 2-match Test series against South Africa with the first Test starting today at the Eden Gardens Cricket Stadium in Kolkata. The South Africans are the defending champions of the WTC and come from a drawn series against Pakistan.
India, on the other hand, are currently placed third in the WTC points table and have come off the back of an impressive win in the red-ball series against West Indies on home soil. Under the leadership of their new captain, they look determined to get their hands on their third WTC final berth.
Shubman Gill makes bold claim after losing another toss
The current Indian captain can easily be called the most unlucky captain ever to play the game of cricket. Shubman Gill took over the Test captaincy and has led India in 7 Test matches so far, in which they have lost more than three times as many as they have won the toss.
Losing another toss against South Africa’s Temba Bavuma, Shubman admitted to the match presenter that the only toss he expects to win is in the WTC final.
Shubman Gill said, “Hopefully I will win the only toss in the WTC final.”
