England fast bowler Mark Wood has given the team an injury scare ahead of their high-octane Ashes 2025-26 series in Australia. Mark Wood is set to undergo a precautionary scan after feeling discomfort in his hamstring during the first day of the practice match against the England Lions in Perth.

The fast bowler bowled just eight overs before leaving the field midway through the afternoon session due to stiffness in his right foot. The England team management confirmed the move was precautionary, but Wood’s fitness is being closely monitored ahead of the prestigious Ashes series.

The medical team will assess his condition on Friday, November 14 to rule out any serious injuries. Now, England will be hoping this is nothing more than a minor issue, as Wood’s pace and experience make him their key weapon, especially on fast and bouncy Australian surfaces.
