Earlier, RR had demanded Jadeja and Dewald Brevis, but CSK refused for the Indian all-rounder as well. Since Samson has a huge fan following and has a South Indian connection, the five-time IPL champions are desperate to bring that brand to their team.

Additionally, the franchise wants a solid Indian wicketkeeper, as MS Dhoni will be retiring in a few seasons, and that’s where Sanju fits the bill perfectly. Looking at those equations, CSK is ready to sacrifice its coveted all-rounder Jadeja and English star Curran.

But when it comes to numbers, legacy and utility, Jadeja is far better than Samson, and it remains a big question whether the Kerala player is a bigger deal than the Indian all-rounder and that too with Curran in line for a high-profile deal. Jadeja is still one of the best all-rounders in this format.
He has already won four IPL titles – one with RR – and remains a gun fielder, capable of finishing matches, and his wicket-taking ability is well known to all, especially on spinning pitches. Jadeja had retired from T20I cricket only last year, but he still has 3-4 years of cricket left in him in the fast-paced format of the game.

Despite all this, Chennai Super Kings is ready to give up Sam along with him for Samson. It is also being said that CSK and RR had discussed deals with these players. Earlier, Jadeja had refused to leave the franchise with which he had been associated since 2012, except for the two seasons when the team was banned.
But now the Indian all-rounder is showing interest in this deal. A journalist from RevSportz indicated that Rajasthan Royals had offered the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja and assured him that they would not do the same to him in 2022 when CSK stripped him of the captaincy midway through the season.

There are also speculations that money could be another factor pushing Jadeja to move to CSK. Since he has retired from T20Is and is not going to be popular for the next five seasons, Jadeja, who was retained by CSK for Rs 18 crore in 2025, may agree to the deal offered by RR.

However, the journalist has made it clear that the deal has not been finalized yet and if Jadeja refuses to leave the franchise then CSK will be helpless. As of now, the CSK-RR deal is yet to be finalized and everything depends on Jadeja’s decision.
Moreover, Rajasthan Royals were not happy with this deal. RR reportedly wants Sri Lankan fast bowler Mathisha Pathirana instead of Sam Curran, considering his inconsistent performances in the league. However, CSK have no plans to release Pathirana as he is an important part of their plans.
