India will play its next three matches in the ODI series against South Africa and Indian legend Rohit Sharma is back in Mumbai to prepare for the series after returning from Australia. This series will mark Rohit’s return to ODI cricket on Indian soil.
India’s star batsman Rohit Sharma made his much-awaited comeback to international cricket against Australia alongside Virat Kohli and looked in great form with the bat. Although India lost the series, it was a comprehensive comeback for the two experienced Indian stars.
Virat Kohli flew back to London to be with his family, and Rohit Sharma, along with others who were not part of India’s T20I campaign, returned to India the day after the final match ended at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Ever since the former Indian captain, who won two consecutive ICC titles for India and led them to three consecutive ICC finals, decided to call off the T20I and Test formats for India, a sighting of him has become even rarer.
India next face South Africa in ODI cricket, and taking advantage of the home series, Sharma visited the Mumbai Ranji Trophy team at home and joined them for a session in the nets.
He arrived at the MCA-BKC Ground in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex, where the Mumbai team was involved in its fourth Ranji Trophy match of the season against Himachal Pradesh. He was seen with former teammate and now coach Dhawal Kulkarni behind the reserve bowlers in the nets as the match continued at the venue.
Rohit is guiding the young talents of Mumbai
After returning from Australia, Sharma has been seen actively involved in Indian cricket, unlike Virat Kohli who enjoys family time in London these days and prefers to keep a low profile. Rohit was seen supporting the Indian women’s team winning their first World Cup at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Rohit was not seen with his regular training kit and was seen in a more casual personality wearing light athletic apparel and shorts. He was reportedly there for some interaction with the young cricketers of Mumbai. The experienced batsman was not there for practice, as he did some sprints as a routine warm-up.
Rohit Sharma is trying to remain in form till the next World Cup
Legendary Indian ODI batsman Rohit Sharma, 38, is the third-highest run-scorer for India in the format with 11,370 runs in the 50-over competition. He is also the 9th highest scorer in the world in the 50 over format.
After announcing his retirement from two other formats of international cricket, Rohit Sharma made a comeback in the ODI format in India’s tour of Australia. He scored 202 runs in three matches of the series and batted at an average of 101.
The batsman will have to maintain his form till he participates in the ICC ODI World Cup 2027. The player will be 40 by then and will consider fitness more than his age, as he had lost 11 kg before the Australia tour. He would like to continue his good performance till the next World Cup.
