T20 World Cup: One team is almost out of the race for the semi-finals, decision on the other till night, interesting battle of Super 8

New Delhi. The battle for the Super 8 of the ICC T20 World Cup is going on and the hopes of the teams in the semi-finals are also increasing and decreasing. While England’s defeat to South Africa dashed its hopes, West Indies’ big win over America brought it back into the race. Only the top two out of four teams of both the groups playing in Super 8 will secure the ticket for the semi-finals. Out of these, one team is almost out while the name of the other team can also be unveiled tonight.

The matches played in the ICC T20 World Cup Super 8 in the last two days have made the race for the semi-finals even more interesting. After winning the first match, the England team lost, whereas the West Indies registered their first win in the Super 8 after the defeat. West Indies team achieved the target of 129 runs against America in just 10.5 overs and won by 9 wickets. After this victory, the team’s net run rate has become better than both South Africa and England. Meaning, if England wins the next match against America, then it will have to keep the margin big because if West Indies beats South Africa, then it will be successful in making it to the semi-finals.

A team almost out of the semi-finals
America’s defeat against West Indies has almost ended its semi-final hopes. The co-host team, which came close to victory against South Africa, lost badly in this match. Now the team has only one match left against England, if it wins it and even if South Africa beats West Indies, it is difficult for it to move ahead. Both England and West Indies are better than America in net run rate.

A decision on a team can be taken at night
Rohit Sharma’s Team India will play the Super 8 match against Bangladesh tonight at 8 pm Indian time. The Indian team has won its first match against Afghanistan and all it has to do is win the next match. Bangladesh had lost to Australia in the first Super 8 match, hence if it loses to India, it will almost be out of the race for the semi-finals. Because if Bangladesh beats Afghanistan in the last match and Afghanistan team beats Australia then there can be a chance for them.
