A high-stakes deal between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) over Sanju Samson has reached the final stages as the IPL retention deadline of November 15 approaches. Sanju Samson has made up his mind to leave Royals even before IPL 2026.
And now the 2008 IPL winners have also decided to let go of the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman. Earlier, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were interested in securing the Kerala star but they are not ready to give up their big stars and their discussions ended.

Amidst the discussion, Capitals are ready to trade Tristan Stubbs for Samson to Rajasthan Royals. Even as some reports claim that DC and RR have advanced talks, the latter is expected to take over as the new captain before the next edition of the tournament.

Rajasthan Royals have demanded 2 players from Delhi Capitals
As quoted by RevSportz journalist, two talents from Uttar Pradesh, Sameer Rizvi and Vipraj Nigam, are on the radar of Rajasthan Royals for Samson trade. Vipraj Nigam, 20, is a 20-year-old leg spinner and right-handed batsman, and has made an impact in his debut IPL season with DC.
Nigam played 14 matches for DC in IPL 2025, where he took 11 wickets and scored 142 runs in eight innings at a strike rate of nearly 180. On the other hand, Sameer Rizvi was previously a part of CSK in IPL 2024, and he played 8 matches for them but could only score 51 runs in 5 innings.

RR demands appointment of Sameer Rizvi as DC, refuses to walk away from Sanju Samson trade
The journalist claimed that the Royals have made a new demand to the Capitals that they want Samir Rizvi or Vipraj Nigam as well as Tristan Stubbs to swap Samson. However, DC has already refused to let go of Rizvi, and this could ruin the deal that is in the final stages.
Now, it will be interesting to see if DC would be willing to give up Vipraj Nigam and Stubbs to bring back Samson before IPL 2026. But RR is more interested in Rizvi.
