25-year-old India women’s national cricket team all-rounder Amanjot Kaur took one of the greatest catches in the history of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup on Sunday, November 2.
Amanjot Kaur’s sensational catch helped all-rounder Deepti Sharma dismiss modern Proteas batsman Laura Wolvaardt in the final of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.
Amanjot Kaur makes unreal catch in Women’s World Cup final
Laura Wolvaardt is considered one of the best batsmen in women’s cricket, and at the age of 26, she has made some great achievements.
She has been in exceptional form in the ongoing edition of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 and has scored back-to-back sensational centuries in the semi-finals and final.
After scoring 169 against England Women in the semi-finals, Laura Wolvaardt continued her good form and punished the Indian bowlers. Despite not getting much support from the other end, he batted well and scored a century in 96 balls.
In the middle order, she looked all set to lead the Proteas to victory, but Deepti Sharma did not let that happen. Deepti Sharma dismissed Wolvaardt on the first ball of the 42nd over at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai.
Wolvaardt played a slog-sweep off Deepti Sharma and gained height but the ball did not go very far to deep midwicket. Amanjot Kaur came running for the catch and almost messed it up.
The ball slipped out of her hand, but after jogging several times, she managed to catch the ball with one hand and send the Proteas captain back for 101. That catch proved to be a game-changer and helped India women win their first World Cup.

We are all very positive – Amanjot Kaur
Speaking ahead of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 final, Amanjot Kaur said that the mood in the Indian camp is quite positive. He also revealed that the conversations in the dressing room before the final were quite normal.
“We are all very positive (mood in the camp) and very excited, but it is raining outside and we are nervous. We are just looking for something to do. We are bored and we are really excited to get out right now. So yes, it is quite positive. I was not nervous (the emotions were there when she hit the winning run in the semi-finals), but I was just waiting for my turn. I didn’t want to leave,” she said.
“As soon as I went into the England match, I took it too deep. And then in the Australia game, I left seven balls for someone else. So I wanted to finish it and I am glad I did that. And also, Jamie’s innings was commendable and Harry (Harmanpreet) Di’s innings was quite amazing. The way he played his innings and Deepti, Richa did the cameos. And then I finished it. I am glad I finished it. Did. Amazing atmosphere. The crowd went crazy.”
“(The conversation before this game) Quite a simple conversation. We said, yes, we have done it. We have won against Australia, but we have to leave it there. It has been done and now we have to focus on the final against South Africa. So we have to be here in the present. So we are not thinking too far ahead, but we want to be in the present right now.”
