India will compete Australia In the second of the five-match T20I series. This article provides details about the playing 11 of India vs Australia for the second match of the series.
India Playing XI vs Australia – 2nd T20I, India tour of Australia 2025:
Openers: Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill
India will aim to take a 1-0 lead in the series by winning the second match of the five-match T20 series against Australia after the first match between the two teams was abandoned due to rain in Canberra.
The Suryakumar Yadav-led side will be looking to replicate that batting performance in whatever little play was possible before the final match was washed out due to rain.
The responsibility of giving a good start to the team by playing in their natural aggressive style in the first six overs will be on the opening pair of Abhishek Sharma and vice-captain Shubman Gill.
The pair were able to set a good platform in the previous game before Abhishek was dismissed attempting to attack Nathan Ellis, while his opening partner, Shubman looked in good touch and would be looking for a similar performance.
Apart from setting a platform for the team, both Abhishek and Shubman will hope that the upcoming batsmen take advantage of this and help the team post a better score against the strong Australian batting lineup.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Tilak Verma, Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Shivam Dubey, Akshar Patel.
The openers will be followed by the middle order who will be keen to hit the middle and for that to happen, will look to get a complete game in the second T20I.
Apart from captain Suryakumar Yadav, no other batsman got a chance to bat in the opening match of the series and he would like to compensate for this in the next match.
The batsmen would like to take advantage of the opportunity and score a big score to challenge the powerful Australian batting line-up and put them under pressure, which will increase the chances of the visiting team winning the match.
Although India are expected to go in with an unchanged playing XI in the second match to be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, it will be interesting to see if the team management decides to bring in any bowler keeping in mind the conditions.
Irrespective of the batting combination, the onus will be on the top five batsmen to score a large number of runs for India and Suryakumar Yadav will be on hand to lead from the front.
Bowlers: Harshit Rana, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakraborty, Jasprit Bumrah
When it comes to the bowling arsenal, it has not been tested in the first T20I, and will look to put up a spirited performance in the upcoming contest.
As has happened in the last few years, the responsibility of taking wickets in the first six overs will be entrusted to Jasprit Bumrah.
Apart from Bumrah, the captain will have to decide who will bowl from the other end, as there are few options between Harshit Rana, Varun Chakraborty and Axar Patel whom Suryakumar Yadav can rely on.
As far as the second spin bowling option is concerned, the team will stick with Kuldeep Yadav while Shivam Dubey will play the role of the sixth bowler to complete India’s bowling attack.
