Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association (PVCA) confirmed that Karachi will host the inaugural Over-40 T20 World Cup from November 21 to December 1, 2025. It is worth noting that the upcoming edition will be the first time that the veteran tournament will be played in the T20 format, with 12 participating nations.
A total of 12 teams will compete in the inaugural Over-40 T20 World Cup. Hosts Pakistan have been placed in Group 1 along with West Indies, South Africa, Hong Kong, Canada and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Group 2 includes Australia, USA, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Saudi Arabia and Rest of the World XI.
Pakistan announces over-40 groups for T20 World Cup 2025
The upcoming 40-over-40 T20 World Cup in Karachi is set to feature a number of former cricket stars including Shahid Afridi, Younis Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik and Kamran Akmal, making it one of the most anticipated mega events in recent years.
The Men in Green had previously won titles in the Over-60 World Cup (Brisbane 2022), Over-40 World Cup (Karachi 2023), and Over-50 World Cup (Colombo 2025).,
A total of 42 matches will take place across various venues in Karachi, with all of Pakistan’s games taking place under lights.
The event, originally scheduled for December 1-13, was extended to November 21-December 1 to avoid clash with the 35th National Games, which will be held in Karachi from December 6-13.

PVCA President Fawad Ijaz Khan expressed his gratitude to all the 12 participating countries for their support. He said the association had consulted with each team before finalizing the new tournament dates and appreciated their understanding and cooperation.
“We have taken into confidence all the 12 participating nations, including Australia, South Africa, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Zimbabwe, Canada, Saudi Arabia, UAE, USA and the Rest of the World team,” the PVCA president said.
“We are extremely grateful to all the teams for their cooperation and acceptance of our request for the new schedule,” he said.,
When is the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026?
The 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka from 6 February to 7 March. This will be the second consecutive edition to feature 20 teams.
The top seven teams, along with hosts India and Sri Lanka, secured automatic qualification from the 2024 tournament. Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, United States, West Indies and other teams will compete in the tournament.
India will enter the competition as defending champions, having defeated South Africa by seven wickets in the 2024 final. With the tournament returning to home conditions, the Men in Blue will be keen to retain their title and continue their dominance in the T20 format.
