Australia’s legendary cricketer meg lanning Has shared his predictions for the upcoming semi-finals of ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025Naming the teams they believe will advance to the grand finale. Meg Lanning tells who will get a chance in the first semi-final

In the first semi-final, England will face South Africa on October 29 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. Lanning, speaking on the ICC review, backed England to overtake the Proteas, citing their consistency and the depth of the team.

“I think England have been performing well throughout the tournament and their key players have been playing well. You’ve got Nat Sciver-Brunt, Heather Knight and Sophie Ecclestone who have all done really well. If they get contributions from some of the others, they are a very dangerous team.” Lanning said.

The former Australian captain acknowledged South Africa’s resilience but believes England’s ability to handle pressure could be the deciding factor in knockout matches.

“Both teams have impressed at different stages, but I think England’s depth and balance will give them the edge.” He added.

England, the 2017 champions, have been in strong form, with Sciver-Brunt and Ecclestone leading the way in both the batting and bowling departments. Meanwhile, South Africa, who are playing their third consecutive World Cup semi-final, will be aiming to break their bad luck and reach the final for the first time.

Lanning predicts the winner of India vs Australia match

The second semi-final between India and Australia promises to be a blockbuster to be held at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on October 30. India will have the advantage of home conditions and passionate local support, but Lanning is hopeful his former team will rise to the occasion.

Lanning highlighted that India will be a formidable opponent led by a confident batting unit, especially with players like Smriti MandhanaHarmanpreet KaurAnd Deepti Sharma In top form. However, he believes Australia’s experience and adaptability will make a difference in difficult moments.

“I think Australia have incredible depth. They have shown throughout the tournament that they are not reliant on one or two players. Even if they lose some early wickets, there is real strength in the lower order that can get them out of different situations.” Lanning added.
